About The Doctor
Dr.Donn Hickman has been in solo Private Practice since 1984, after completing
8 years of formal surgical residency training and 4 years of medical school.
He entered the Early Admissions Medical program, based on his undergraduate
scholastic achievements that permitted him to defer his 4th year of college
and enter Medical School after three years.
He obtained Board Certification in two specialities: General Surgery (1983)
and Plastic Surgery (1985). His Practice is now devoted to Cosmetic Plastic
Surgery. He was among several regional professionals in the Greater Los Angeles
area selected as Top Doctors in Plastic Surgery (1999) by The Washington DC
Center for the Study of Services in the United States, an honor bestowed by
colleagues who pick physicians they would have treat them own families. He received
several honors for his work in the Long Beach Children’s Clinic as the only
Plastic Surgeon to volunteer his services in that clinic’s history (1985-1991).
His office surgery center carries the prestigious accreditation by the American
Association for the Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgical Facilities (AAAASF).

Dr. Hickman became interested in a career in Medicine and Surgery in 6th grade
and began to enter Science Fair competition. In High School he achieved National
and State honors with his Science Fair research on Niacin Vitamin B 3 in allergic
shock, and its effect on blood cholesterol and triglycerides. In his Senior
year of High School in 1969, this research won him several awards at the International
Science Fair, the First Place Award in Biological Sciences at the Florida State
Science Fair, and five First Place Awards from the South Florida Science Fair.
As a result of his academic and science achievements, he received the top graduating
senior award, and was recognized as one of the top 100 graduating science students
in the nation, being distinguished to represent Florida at the National Youth
Science Camp in the summer of 1969. The vitamin niacin is now commonly used
as one of the first line treatments for elevated cholesterol and triglycerides
in selected patients, having been shown to be affective by the National Coronary
Drug Study in the early 1970s.
His current focus is on implementing advanced techniques in minimal scar periareolar
purse string breast lift and reduction, minimally invasive suture suspension
methods for eyelid and brow elevation, customized body contouring and high tension
tummy tuck, natural breast augmentation with soft results, and the unoperated
look for Rhinoplasty, Otoplasty, Blepharoplasty, and Contouring of the Neck,
Thighs, Calf, Ankle, and Knee. He continues to advocate various blends of Chemical
Peels to treat and rejuvenate a host of skin problems including blemishes, wrinkles,
scars, aging, and a lackluster complexion, feeling they excel other technologies
when used in selected patients.
