1. CHEMICAL PEEL RESURFACING 
 
is used for the treatment of many skin problems ( wrinkles, blotches, pigmentation, acne, spider veins, and texture problems)   It can be applied to a full spectrum and depth of skin problems and continues to be affective with the least chance of complications in the experience of this Practice. 2. LASER
 
                 The CO2 laser became popular in the early 1990s. Initially applied to wrinkles of various degrees, and pigmentation problems, and some tattoo removal applications. It is a deep treatment and requires the most preparation and longest down time but is applied to the deepest age-related skin problems. Use of coherent waves has enhanced its safety.-------------------------------FEATHER TOUCH-ULTRAPULSE   
 
       The Erbium-Yag laser (often combined with CO2 laser was introduced for milder skin treatments). 
This technology has evolved into less down time with improved results.   
 
       The Variable Pulse Yag Laser is as affective as CO2 but with fewer problems and shorter recovery.
 
       The Long-Pulsed 1064nm Neodimium-Yag Laser perhaps the mildest of lasers can be used for wrinkles, acne scars,hair removal, and spider veins.  ----------------------------COOLTOUCH-LYRA
 
       The Q-Switched Ruby Laser is for minimal pigment in the skin such as freckles, sun damage, keratotic crusty skin spots, and birthmarks.
 
        Long-Pulsed Alexandrite Laser does not affect the skin but removes surface spider vessels, portwine birthmarks, thick scars, and vascular dots called hemangiomas. Does cause bruising.  Several treatments are necessary.
 
         Argon, Yag, Ruby, and Alexandrite Lasers  have been used for hair removal, with the DIODE LASER (800-810nm) now being the current gold standard for most hair types on a wider range of skin types. 
 
3.  PULSED LIGHT (IPL) 
 
(high intensity pulses of light/not laser) was introduced to target the red pigment hemoglobin in spider veins-----PHOTODERM VL, melanin pigment in blotchy and pigmented skin-----PHOTODERM PL, the hair follicle and shaft for hair removal----- PHOTODERM HR-EPILIGHT,  and the oil glands in the hair shafts for acne reduction. ------ALSO VASCULIGHT-PHOTOFACIAL-FOTOFACIAL-PLASMALIGHT-MULITLIGHT- HARMONY by Alma Lasers
 
4. RADIOFREQUENCY (RF)
 
( targeted radiowave absorption) was introduced for even milder treatment of fine wrinkles and skin blotchiness. 
 
The original technology is monopolar or unipolar which can cause fat absorption which may not be so beneficial for the face.-------------THERMAGE-THERMACOOL---Bipolar RF is felt to be safer with lower incidence of atrophy of underlying tissues.  Bipolar radiofrequency devices are seen with  IPL/RF by Syneron (Galaxy, Comet, Pitanga, Aurora) which are updated now to (eMax, eLyte, eLaser).  Accent by Alma lasers combines unipolar with bipolar which can reduce the heating affects of the solitary unipolar technology but harnesses its tightening qualities.

9. FRACTIONATED LASER   CO2 and ERBIUM-YAG
In the effort to control heat scatter with the deeper CO2 and conventional Erbium Lasers, developers of this technology have produced a beam that is composed of many microbeams that penetrate the skin like needlepoints to get to the appropriate depth yet sparing 75% of the skin itself to permit skin healing shorter patient recovery.  The recovery is a few days but response is dependent on multipe treatments over months.
